The Bailey Sisters - Biography |

April and Audrey Bailey, have been
singing since, they were children growing up in New York. Being raised
in a musical family, plus having professional training in classical and
jazz singing, The Bailey Sisters blend their voices and their talents
together in perfect harmony. After earning Bachelor and Master’s degrees from their respective universities, the sisters began to perform many genres of music. |
In addition, they continued to broaden their musical training/education under the tutelage of jazz greats such as the legendary Barry Harris, award winning jazz pianist Jesse Green (son of renown jazz trombonist Urbie Green), Enos Payne who was one of the directors of Dr. Billy Taylor’s “Jazzmobile”, as well as the late Weldon Irvine, famed jazz musician and writer of the lyrics to the song that became the official civil rights anthem (“To Be Young Gifted and Black”). Moreover, The Bailey Sisters have recorded with jazz greats such as, world renowned Jazz-Fusion Tabla player Badal Roy, known for his work with Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman, and Herbie Hancock; Jazz bassists Paul Rostock, and Tony Marino; and Jazz keyboardist Jesse Green. |

The Bailey Sisters have
performed in a variety of venues, from supper clubs, to gospel
choirs, and at the Lotus Feet of Our Lord Sathya Sai Baba, along
with the Sai’s 9 Singers. The Bailey Sisters completed their first album/CD for Sathya Sai Baba, entitled “God Lives In India”; and are currently working on a new collection of devotional recordings, to be released in the spring of 2011. Finally, the Bailey family, have been Sai Baba devotees since 1986. Sai Baba has graciously granted the Bailey Family interviews on several occasions. |
